The Caldwell County Sheriff is the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of Caldwell County. The Sheriff’s office is responsible for maintaining peace within the borders of the county.  The Sheriff’s Office currently has eight employees, six deputies and three clerks. The primary mission of the Sheriff’s Office is to protect the rights of persons and property, prevent crime, and provide assistance to citizens in emergency situations.

The Sheriff and his deputies are the executive officers of the courts of Caldwell County, serving warrants, court summonses, and other court processes for the courts of Caldwell County and other jurisdictions. They are bailiffs of the court for Caldwell County District Court, Caldwell Circuit Court, and Caldwell Fiscal Court. Their duties also include transporting mental patients, juveniles, and prisoners for court purposes.

The Sheriff’s Office also collects property, franchise, oil, and unmined mineral taxes for the various taxing districts of Caldwell County.
