What is Solid Waste?
Solid waste is household trash that in the past has gone to landfills. Two years ago there were over 200 landfills in the state of Kentucky, today there are 26 licensed landfills. By recycling, a considerable amount of the solid waste that would end up in landfills can be eliminated.
The recycling center currently accepts newspapers, magazines, corrugated cardboard, office paper, clear glass, tin and aluminum cans, and #1 and #2 plastic (milk jugs and drink bottles). The recycle center will also accept oil, in small amounts. If you have large barrels of oil, they need to go to the County Road Department. Please call the Judge Executive Office (270) 365-6660 and we will make arrangements.
For questions regarding recycling, illegal dumping, or any other solid waste issues please contact the manager, Lynn Williams.
